About the Event

We are excited to announce our “It takes a village” capital campaign. This is the first fundraising campaign for the Dr. Margaret Wade Lewis Cultural Center in New Paltz, New York. The goal of our campaign is to raise enough money to renovate one of the historic houses in the historic district of New Paltz. This historic home is called the Ann-Oliver house and was built in October 1885 by a black man Jacob Wynkoop and purchased by a black women named Ann-Oliver, which is still standing and located at 5 Broadhead Avenue, New Paltz, New York. The Ann-Oliver Home has stood tall for over 139 years. The renovations, upgrades and cost to start operating as a cultural center are estimated for $2.5Million dollars and the home needs lots of love and attention to help it thrive for the next 100 years. It will take a village, our village!
